Winter in Indiana can be tough. The temperatures drop quickly and it’s tempting to lock yourself in your house and wait for spring. However, after the recent spring lockdowns, many Americans are looking for ways to continue getting out of the house during the winter. Because many indoor activities are canceled or otherwise restricted, our team at Indy JoyRides has put together a quick list of things you safely can do outdoors this winter.

Winter Activities in Indianapolis

Drink Like an Eskimo

Just north of Indianapolis, there is a winery featuring heated igloos wherein you can sip wine and feel like an Eskimo. Each dome features seating for up to eight people, heaters, music, and lights. Drinks must be ordered at the bar, and servers will bring your food orders. Check out the Urban Vines Winery website to book your igloo ahead of time and enjoy this unique winter experience.

Cozy Up to a Fireplace

There are several bars and restaurants that offer outdoor seating around a cozy fireplace. District Tap, Scotty’s Brewhouse, and Union 50 all offer outdoor seating options along with their exciting menus and full bars. Also, many other restaurants are finding creative ways to keep their patios open through the winter because of COVID-19, so check with your favorite spot to find out. Some businesses are adding heaters, offering one-time use blankets to patrons, or even setting up tents.
